IT IS NOT UNTIL YOU HAVE HAND SANITIZER TO COMBAT COVID-19

The status of Coronavirus currently stands at 209,839 confirmed cases with 8,779 confirmed death globally (WHO).

Coronaviruses (CoV) are a large family of viruses that cause illness ranging from the common cold to more severe diseases such as Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS-CoV) and Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS-CoV).

Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is a new strain that was discovered in 2019 and has not been previously identified in humans.
Coronaviruses are zoonotic, meaning they are transmitted between animals and people.  Detailed investigations found that SARS-CoV was transmitted from civet cats to humans and MERS-CoV from dromedary camels to humans. Several known coronaviruses are circulating in animals that have not yet infected humans.

Common signs of infection include respiratory symptoms, fever, cough, shortness of breath and breathing difficulties. In more severe cases, infection can cause pneumonia, severe acute respiratory syndrome, kidney failure and even death.

Standard recommendations to prevent infection spread include regular hand washing, covering mouth and nose when coughing and sneezing, thoroughly cooking meat and eggs. Avoid close contact with anyone showing symptoms of respiratory illness such as coughing and sneezing.
Up until now, the most advertised protection against contracting the disease is the use of hand sanitizer. This write-up is to let you know that not until you have hand-sanitizer that you are protected. In case you cannot see or afford to buy hand sanitizer at the pharmacist shop, the following ways are methods that can keep you protected:

1. Hand washing with soap or detergent: This is an age long method of protection against micro-organisms. Any soap can do even to the the least expensive soda soap. Wash your hands at regular intervals.
2. Alcohol: Call it ogogoro or akaikai is more effective than the commercial hand sanitizers. So, if you have access to this product you can use it to clean your hand where water and soap are not readily available. Why Isopropanol is substituted for ethanol in the formulation of antiseptics is purely based on religious bias by christian/moslem fundamentalists who demonize this product. But ethanol sure remain a gold standard in antisepsis.
3. Izal (Phenolic): since Covid-19 is not airborne, it settles on surfaces like floors, tables etc mopping your floors with phenolic based Izal would go a long you in keeping you protected.

These and others are ways you can keep your protected during this trying time that the world is going through.
